The $199 Gear VR was expensive and only worked on a select number of phones. Today, Samsung showcased an updated VR model made by Oculus, prices at $99 and works with 2015 Samsung phones (those are the Note 5, S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+). It’s a shame that it won’t work on previous Galaxy phones, though.
The updated device is 22% lighter and the trackpad has a tactile directional pad. There’s also a new gamepad that will work with the new Gear VR, and it looks suspiciously similar to the Xbox controller.
You’ll be sucked into different universes with the Gear VR starting in November.
