OnePlus Two is expected to see the light of day very soon

Almost everyone is familiar with the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus by now. Their first phone; the OnePlus One was the surprise hit of 2014 with critics and customers alike. Its flagship specs, extremely affordable price tag and invite system had the global smartphone community buzzing all of last year. It was also the first-ever smartphone to run the CyanogenMod OS, which was a beautiful version of the stock Android built in with significantly more customizable options and a slightly different design charm.

OnePlus implemented a unique invite-system which was the only way anyone could get their hands on the phone and made it all the more desirable and talked-about within the community. Living in Dubai has its perks. Our ever-delivering grey market was stocked with the phone as soon as the OnePlus One garnered local demand. I used it for a while and it was an excellent device on all fronts especially at the then price tag of AED 1,500.

We finally have news on the OnePlus 2 (yes, this time it’s 2 instead of Two) that will unsurprisingly run Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor but with a slightly different version. The v2.1 has gotten rid of the 810’s initial heating issues. OnePlus says they worked directly with Qualcomm on this version to get rid of those pesky heating issues that can be a serious buzz kill to your awesome new smartphone.

The next bit of news is what really caught everyone off guard: the OnePlus 2 will be supporting the USB Type-C standard that is currently all the rage. It’s what Apple has incorporated into their new Macbook and is a piece of technology that is universally accepted in the tech community and we should soon see it as the standard on all devices.

OnePlus is releasing more info on the OnePlus 2 in installments through their blog. Their entire marketing is done through their blog and they know journalists and consumers alike are hungry for any news concerning their next phone and they’re making full use of it. Keep an eye on their blog if you want to keep up-to-date or keep an eye fixed on Absolute Geeks as we bring you all the latest news!
