In an earlier post we noted that Twitter is in the process of re-imagining its web feed, shortly after it rolled out the current redesign. While the concept at the time blended Facebook’s look with Google+, now that the design is complete and is rolling out, it appears to be much more of Facebook and less of anything else – even Twitter itself.
As you can see, it pretty much looks like Facebook. You have a profile photo and your cover photo, your news feed in the middle, people and hashtages to follow on the right, and your photos and followers list to the left.
The new design is available only to some users at the moment and will roll out to the masses in the next few weeks. Twitter also added some features to distinguish itself functionally from other social networks, including different text sizes based on engagement levels, pinned tweets, and filtered tweets.
