Coverage: Acer’s “A Touch More” event – Dubai

Jan 11

When Acer Middle East invited us to their #ATouchMoreDXB, we thought it will be another one of those standard presentations and product launches where someone gets up, talks about how groundbreaking a product is and feeds us things to write up on. As it turned out to be, this wasn’t one of those events.

The event was hosted at a large and impressive suite at the Hilton Jumeira Beach Residences. It began with the event’s host, Hisham Wyne, introducing a journey he intended to take us on. A journey in an average home with Acer’s touch products at the heart of it all.

The journey started with a businessman crunching numbers and graphs on a spreadsheet using the touchscreen-friendly all in one desktop, Aspire Z.

He then moved into the kitchen where we found a young couple preparing dinner, aided by a recipe displayed on their Iconia A1 sleek and light-weighted Android tablet.

From there we were transported upstairs into one of the bedrooms which was used as a design workshop for a fashion designer. She was making the most of the amazing Aspire R7, which flips the screen multiple degrees to form layers of awesomeness, transforming into a large Windows 8 tablet.

Next stop was another bedroom, where a young woman was lying on her bed going through pictures she took after a long day of sightseeing, using the Aspire S7 Ultrabook, which naturally is also touchscreen friendly.

We had to move back downstairs for our last stop to see a DJ spin some tunes on his turntable, aided by the Aspire P3 Ultrabook which can nicely switch between laptop and tablet modes.

Overall, the event was refreshing and inspiring. It successfully attempted to showcase Acer’s diverse portfolio of touchscreen products in their natural habitats, doing what they do best, helping people perform their daily tasks in the most practical and stylish way possible. Well done Acer Middle East, and hats off to their PR agency for a creative and well designed, well executed event.
