Every manufacturer these days are putting an emphasis on the quality of their cameras, aperture, and low-light capabilities, now that most of the “smart” aspects of smartphones have been covered. Though Apple’s iPhone is heralded as the best all-rounder, many companies have tried different things, like Nokia with the Lumia, and HTC with the UltraPixels.
Enter Light L16 android-powered phone.
What’s different about the Light L16? Well … the company says it’s the first “multiple aperture computational camera”, and what this means is that the entire phone is made up of different lenses (16 in total), and depending on what you’re photographing, different lenses will fire and stitch together a perfect photo.

Honestly, the idea is genius. As far as specs are concerned, the only indication is that it is powered by android, but it is unclear if it is stock android or an adaptation, and any spec-sheet is entirely missing. It’s of course a little bulky in a world of ever-slimming phones, but the company says it is “pocketable”.
I was intrigued by the technology, and the sample images have wowed me. From the video, one can see that there is a sort of software that you can install on your computer to modify depth of field and other settings after the fact. It’s really incredible, and priced at an incredible $1699. If you reserve it today, though, you get $400 off.
Are you willing to pay $1699 for this?
