WeTransfer extends link expiration dates and keeps your files longer

WeTransfer, the popular file-sharing platform, has just made it easier to manage those expiring download links. A new ‘Save for Later’ feature on their mobile app now lets you extend a transfer’s lifespan by up to 30 days.

This means no more scrambling to download files before they disappear or having to ask the sender for a resend. Now you can save transfers directly within the app, giving you ample time to access them later on your phone or even forward them to your computer for future use.

To get started, simply download the WeTransfer app, log in, and whenever you receive a new transfer, open the app and tap “Save for Later.” If you need even more time, you can further extend the expiry date by up to 30 days from within the saved transfers section. All your saved transfers are neatly organized within the app for easy access.

Although there was a bit of initial confusion about the extent of the extension and whether links would truly never expire, WeTransfer has clarified that the extension duration depends on your plan and that links can still expire if not manually saved.

Despite this, the new feature is a definite improvement, eliminating the frustration of expired links and making it much easier to manage your file transfers on the go.
