Steve Jobs’ signature on 1983 business card Sells for over $180,000

Collectors with a passion for Apple history and a healthy bank balance likely had their eyes glued to RR Auction’s latest sale. The centerpiece of this auction was a remarkably rare Steve Jobs-signed business card, dating back to 1983, a pivotal era in Apple’s history. This humble piece of paper, graded “virtually perfect” by PSA/DNA, fetched an eye-watering $181,183. Let’s explore why this seemingly simple object commanded such a high price.

Rarity is the name of the game. RR Auction emphasizes the extreme scarcity of Jobs’ business cards, having sold only ten throughout its history – and even fewer dating back to 1983. This particular card also boasts the coveted PSA/DNA “GEM MT 10” grade, signifying its near-flawless condition: sharp edges, original gloss, and superb focus. Only a handful of Jobs-signed Apple Computer business cards have ever attained this level of preservation.

Despite minor imperfections – a subtle stain on the front and tape residue on the back – collectors were fiercely determined to snag this piece of Apple lore. Bidding soared to almost double RR Auction’s initial estimate. Even more astonishing, the humble business card surpassed the final sale prices of other coveted items, including a Steve Jobs-signed check and a factory-sealed original 4GB iPhone.

It seems the legacy of Steve Jobs continues to weave its magic, drawing enthusiasts to historical artifacts that represent his genius and drive. Only a rare Apple-1 signed by Steve Wozniak, selling for a cool $323,789, could eclipse the Jobs business card in this particular auction. This reminds us that the fascination with Apple’s early days is alive and well, fueling a thriving market for unique and well-preserved memorabilia.
