Samsung’s Ballie robot to feature Gemini AI for smarter home control

Samsung’s upcoming home robot, Ballie, is set to launch with enhanced capabilities powered by Google’s Gemini AI. The device, expected to debut in the U.S. and South Korea this summer, is designed to take smart home assistance a step further by combining voice interaction, mobility, and AI-powered functionality in a single robot.

Building on its existing collaboration with Google, Samsung will use Gemini via Google Cloud to give Ballie conversational AI capabilities. This integration allows users to engage with the robot more naturally—whether to adjust lighting, receive schedule reminders, or manage daily tasks with voice commands.

What sets Ballie apart from typical smart speakers is its mobility and the added layer of AI personalization. The robot can move around the house, greet guests, offer style feedback based on your outfit, and even deliver wellness tips backed by Google Search data. These features are designed to position Ballie as more than just a stationary assistant, but as an interactive household presence.

This isn’t the first time Samsung and Google have partnered on Gemini-powered experiences. The AI was previously introduced in the Galaxy S24 lineup, powering features like note summarization and photo editing in Samsung’s native apps.

Ballie enters a still-growing category of consumer tech, with potential appeal for users already familiar with smart home ecosystems. Its design and functionality may also resonate with those drawn to the idea of a robot assistant—something long imagined in science fiction.

While pricing hasn’t been confirmed, Ballie may not come cheap. Reports suggest that Samsung could offer the robot through a subscription model to make it more accessible. Those interested can sign up on Samsung’s site for updates and pre-order information as the release approaches.
