An online listing on Best Buy Canada’s website has sparked speculation about a potential upgrade to the PlayStation 5 controller. The listed “V2 DualSense Wireless Controller” boasts a significant improvement in battery life, reportedly extending playtime from the current maximum of five hours to a promising 12 hours.
Apart from the extended battery life, the listed controller appears visually identical to its predecessor, retaining the familiar features such as a headset jack, built-in microphone, and haptic triggers on the rear and face buttons. The price point also aligns with the current V2 DualSense Wireless Controller, listed at 90 CAD (approximately 67 USD).

However, it’s crucial to note that the controller is currently unavailable for purchase. This raises uncertainty regarding its official launch date and whether it represents an actual product or potentially an erroneous listing.
Further fueling the intrigue, a patent filed by Sony in November 2023 detailed a prototype controller equipped with a touchscreen replacing the traditional touchpad. The patent also hinted at the integration of predictive AI assistance. Similar to the Best Buy listing, the fate of this innovative controller concept remains unclear.
