HONOR opens sales for 600 Series with emphasis on AI camera and large battery

HONOR has opened general sales for its 600 Series smartphones in the UAE, following a pre-order period that the company reports exceeded expectations by 150 percent compared with the previous generation. The lineup includes the standard HONOR 600 and the higher-specced 600 Pro, positioned as accessible options that borrow several high-end features without carrying flagship prices.

The devices centre on imaging capabilities, headlined by a 200-megapixel main camera system marketed for strong low-light performance. HONOR highlights AI processing for night portraits, colour accuracy, and stabilisation rated up to CIPA 6.5 on the Pro model. Additional tools include up to 120x zoom on the Pro and a new AI Image-to-Video 2.0 function that turns still photos into short clips using text prompts. A dedicated AI button provides quicker access to editing features, reflecting the broader industry push toward on-device artificial intelligence for everyday creativity.

Performance comes via Snapdragon chipsets, with the 8 Elite in the Pro variant. The series also includes a large 7,000mAh battery — among the biggest in HONOR’s numbered range — paired with 80W wired charging. Durability features such as IP69K resistance and drop protection certifications aim to address real-world reliability, an area where many mid-tier phones still fall short. These specifications suggest HONOR is targeting users who want capable hardware for photography, content creation, and extended daily use without stretching to the very top price bracket.

Debo Zhang, general manager for HONOR GCC, attributed the pre-order interest to the AI features and noted the brand’s growth in the UAE market. The company claims it is now the fastest-growing smartphone brand locally and the leading Chinese name. Such statements align with HONOR’s strategy since regaining independence, focusing on competitive specs and regional availability to carve out share in a crowded segment dominated by Samsung, Xiaomi, and others.

Buyers purchasing now receive a three-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes access to Gemini tools and 5TB cloud storage. The phones come in orange, golden white, and black finishes. Pricing starts at AED 1,599 for the HONOR 600 and AED 2,999 for the Pro. Limited-time bundles include a magnetic case and extended warranty coverage for select markets.

The 600 Series arrives at a time when AI integration in mid-range Android phones has become table stakes rather than a differentiator. Features like image-to-video generation can produce engaging results but often depend on lighting, subject, and processing time, with performance varying by usage. Battery claims of all-day life are common across the industry, yet real-world endurance still hinges on individual habits, screen brightness, and software optimisation.

Overall, the HONOR 600 Series represents a familiar playbook: deliver solid cameras, fast charging, and modern AI extras at prices that undercut true flagships. Whether the execution matches the promise will depend on software updates, long-term reliability, and how the AI tools evolve beyond initial novelty. The phones are available through HONOR’s online store, experience centres, and major retailers including Sharaf DG, Emax, Lulu, Noon, Jumbo, and Carrefour.
