Kingston expands SSD line for extreme environments with Industrial Temp Drives

Kingston Digital announced a new line of Industrial Temp solid-state drives (SSDs). These drives are engineered specifically for system builders and engineers who require reliable storage for devices operating in environments with extreme temperature fluctuations. Ideal for applications like self-serve kiosks, digital signage, robotics, point-of-sale systems, and both military and agricultural equipment, these SSDs are designed to thrive where traditional drives would fail.

The new SSDs support SATA interfaces and range in capacity from 128GB to 1TB. They operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, making them suitable for both climate-controlled and harsher environments. Equipped with advanced SATA 3, 6Gbps controllers, Kingston’s i-Temp SATA SSDs incorporate 3D NAND Flash Memory and automatic wear-leveling, garbage collection, and other essential NAND management features. This combination provides a significant boost in both speed and reliability compared to traditional hard disk drives (HDDs).

Kingston meticulously tests all industrial components to ensure consistent functionality and builds safeguards directly into the firmware. Thermal management and data protection features prevent overheating and shutdowns in critical situations. System builders and end-customers can further rely on Kingston’s commitment to lifecycle management. This includes a controlled bill of material, locked firmware code for stability, product change notifications, and failure analysis support for the life of the drive.
