Amid a growing focus on health-tracking wearables, Honor is developing its own smart ring, CEO George Zhao revealed to CNBC during MWC24. This announcement comes just a day after Samsung’s debut of the Galaxy Ring, marking its initial entry into this space.
Samsung’s offering boasts a suite of sensors to track health metrics like heart rate, positioning it within the company’s broader wellness push. While Honor’s ring remains shrouded in some mystery, Zhao emphasized its role in Honor’s own health-centric strategy.
This move underscores Honor’s ambition to compete with giants like Apple and Samsung in the premium device market. Since its spin-off from Huawei in 2020, Honor has aggressively revitalized its smartphone lineup and sought global expansion. Additionally, they’ve diversified into wearables, including smartwatches that already offer some health tracking.
Zhao highlights the potential for AI integration, touting its capacity to analyze user data and provide personalized training recommendations.
