HMD launches Skyline: a Gen Z powerhouse designed for capturing life

HMD is targeting the Gen Z demographic with its latest smartphone, the Skyline. This stylish device prioritizes camera capabilities and user experience, boasting a sleek, rectangular design with a matte finish.

The Skyline’s 6.5-inch pOLED display features a 144Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, ensuring a smooth and durable viewing experience. Under the hood, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

However, the Skyline’s standout feature is its 50MP front-facing camera, designed with Gen Z content creators in mind. This powerful lens includes autofocus and eye-tracking for sharper selfies.

Furthermore, HMD has simplified the selfie-taking process with built-in “selfie gestures.” Users can trigger the shutter with a peace sign or one of three other hand signals.

The rear of the device houses a triple camera array with a 108MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with Capture Fusion Technology. The main camera’s 50mm lens allows for stunning portrait shots with a beautiful bokeh effect, while the 4x zoom capability ensures crisp close-ups.

HMD continues its commitment to self-repairability with the Skyline, making it the first phone to utilize the company’s second-generation technology. This innovation simplifies repairs by reducing the steps required to remove and replace parts.

To help users disconnect and unwind, the Skyline offers a “Detox Mode,” which blocks apps and contacts for a specified period.

The Skyline’s 4,600mAh battery promises up to 48 hours of use between charges. It’s also the first Qi2-capable Android phone, supporting 15W wireless charging. HMD claims the battery will retain 80% of its maximum capacity even after 800 full charge cycles.

With up to 256GB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM, the Skyline can handle even the most demanding tasks. It also supports expandable storage via MicroSD cards up to 512GB.

The HMD Skyline is available for purchase on the official website, starting at $500 in the U.S., and comes in Neon Pink and Twisted Black.
