Google Meet’s AI summarization coming to Android

Google Meet’s AI-powered “Take notes for me” feature, which currently streamlines virtual meetings on the web by generating detailed summaries, is poised to enhance productivity on Android smartphones soon.

This powerful tool, harnessing Google’s generative AI capabilities, has been a valuable asset for users of the web version, providing a convenient way to review meeting highlights and key points at a later time. Now, hints found within the Gmail app suggest that this feature is making its way to Android devices, opening up new possibilities for mobile users.

While the specific rollout date remains unclear, it’s evident that Google is actively working on bringing this feature to mobile. Similar to its web counterpart, the Android version will utilize Gemini, Google’s latest AI model, to create comprehensive meeting summaries. These summaries will not only capture the essence of the conversation but also include a full transcript for reference, ensuring nothing gets lost in translation.

It’s worth noting that, at least initially, this feature might be restricted to specific Workspace tiers, limiting its availability to certain users. Additionally, the AI-generated notes will be exclusively in English at launch, with support for other languages expected to follow.

The addition of AI-powered summarization to Google Meet on Android promises to be a game-changer, particularly for professionals who frequently attend meetings on the go. By providing a quick and accessible way to review crucial information, this feature could significantly improve productivity and efficiency for countless users.
