Google Meet gets updated with Emoji reactions, filters, mobile screen-sharing, and more

Google Meet is set to become a lot more fun and convenient with a series of new features. These additions include a refreshed user interface (UI), enhanced mobile capabilities, and interactive elements to improve your overall video call experience.

The UI will be similar to Meet’s mobile version, providing easier access to features like live captions and simplifying tasks such as starting, receiving, and scheduling calls.

During calls, you’ll now have access to a real-time chat, allowing for text-based communication when speaking isn’t possible. You’ll also be able to express yourself with a range of backgrounds, filters, and effects, including virtual wardrobe and accessories.

To boost interactivity, Google is introducing emoji reactions with various skin tones, allowing for quick nonverbal communication and adding a touch of personality to your calls.

Mobile users will also benefit from the addition of screen sharing on both iOS and Android, enabling the sharing of photos, videos, and presentations during calls. An improved audio-only mode with larger buttons makes it easier to join calls while on the move, and seamless device switching ensures uninterrupted participation in meetings.

These updates will be gradually rolled out over the coming months, so keep your Meet app updated to enjoy these new features.
