Google Gemini gets smarter: now you can customize responses

Google’s large language model, Gemini, is getting an upgrade that puts more control in your hands. A recent update allows users to tailor Gemini’s replies directly on the web, making it easier to get the exact information or style of response you’re looking for.

What This Means for You:

  • More Personalized Results: No more generic answers. Tweak Gemini’s responses to be longer, shorter, more formal, or more playful – it’s up to you!
  • Efficient Research: Get the facts you need faster by refining Gemini’s output and avoiding irrelevant information.
  • Potential for Creative Uses: While the update is primarily for improved search results, this opens the door for users to experiment with Gemini’s language skills in new ways.

How to Try It: If you’re using Gemini on the web in English, look for the new customization options when you get a response. Click on the small bubble with a pen icon, which will give you options to: Regenerate, Shorter, Longer, and Remove. Opt for “Regenerate” to rewrite the selected text, “Shorter” and “Longer” to condense or expand it, and “Remove” to delete it.

Google’s focus on fine-tuning Gemini demonstrates the growing importance of conversational AI and its ability to adapt to individual needs.
