CES 2025: SanDisk introduces MagSafe SSD for iPhone ProRes recording

At CES 2025, SanDisk unveiled a new external solid-state drive (SSD) designed specifically for iPhone users who record high-resolution video. The SanDisk Creator Phone SSD utilizes MagSafe technology to magnetically attach to the back of an iPhone, providing convenient and portable storage for large ProRes video files.

With the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and their iPhone 15 series predecessors capable of recording ProRes video, the need for external storage solutions has become increasingly important. The SanDisk Creator Phone SSD addresses this need with its unique MagSafe compatibility. This allows the drive to securely attach to the back of a compatible iPhone, creating a streamlined and less cumbersome setup for capturing video on the go.

The SanDisk Creator Phone SSD offers impressive data transfer speeds of up to 1000 MB/s read and 950 MB/s write, enabling smooth recording of 4K video at 60fps. The drive is available in capacities up to 2TB, providing ample space for even the most demanding video projects.

While designed with iPhone users in mind, the Creator Phone SSD is not limited to Apple devices. It comes with a USB-C cable for connecting to Macs and most iPad models. Additionally, a stick-on magnetic ring is included, allowing the drive to attach to a MacBook for convenient access to files.

Built for mobile content creation, the Creator Phone SSD features a durable silicone shell, drop protection of up to three meters, and IP65 water and dust resistance. This ensures that the drive can withstand the rigors of on-location shooting and travel.

The SanDisk Creator Phone SSD is expected to launch in spring 2025. The 1TB version will be priced at $109.99, while pricing for the 2TB version has not yet been announced.

Other SanDisk Announcements at CES 2025:

In addition to the Creator Phone SSD, SanDisk also introduced other new storage solutions at CES 2025. These include the Extreme PRO Dual Drive with both USB-A and USB-C connectors, offering read speeds up to 1,000MB/s and write speeds up to 900MB/s. The SanDisk Creator Phone Drive, a dual-connector flash drive with Lightning and USB Type-C, was also announced, providing convenient storage for both iOS and Android devices.

With its MagSafe compatibility, high-speed data transfer, and durable design, the SanDisk Creator Phone SSD offers a compelling solution for iPhone users who require portable and reliable storage for high-resolution video recording.
