Honor of Kings launches Attack on Titan crossover with themed skins and new mode

Honor of Kings has launched a crossover event with the Attack on Titan franchise, running from April 30 through May 31, 2026. The collaboration brings a set of themed cosmetics and a limited-time gameplay mode to the mobile MOBA, timed to coincide with the game’s annual High Five Day community event.

Players can obtain several character skins through in-game lucky draws and events. Zhang Fei receives an Eren Jaeger skin, Jing gets a Mikasa Ackermann variant, and Allain is paired with Levi, all available via separate wish events throughout May. Additional rewards include an Attack on Titan-themed background, an Eren Spriteling companion, and Titan Crops minion skins exchangeable with event currency. Further skins—Mayene as Annie Leonhart, Flowborn as the Armored Titan, and Heino as Scout Regiment—can be unlocked by completing task-based events such as exploring themed areas, playing mini-games against Titans, or contributing to server-wide goals.

A dedicated Attack on Titan mode introduces temporary skill changes. Players can transform or summon one of four Titans for extra attacks and gain passive support from Mikasa or Levi, with basic attacks occasionally triggering Female Titan damage. These modifications aim to add variety during the event window but remain confined to the special mode.

From April 30 to May 7, High Five Day offers broader access: all heroes and many purchasable skins become free to use with no level restrictions, along with lane priority for solo players and ranked protection cards. This period encourages group play and lowers barriers for newer or returning users.

The partnership reflects a familiar industry pattern. Honor of Kings, developed by TiMi Studio Group under Tencent’s Level Infinite label, already boasts massive global engagement, with combined monthly active users exceeding 260 million across its titles in 2025. Crossovers with established anime and entertainment properties have become standard for mobile MOBAs seeking to refresh interest, boost short-term retention, and introduce new players. Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama’s influential series about humanity’s struggle against giant Titans, brings a dark, high-stakes aesthetic that contrasts with the game’s colorful hero design but aligns with themes of courage and teamwork the event promotes.

Whether these themed elements meaningfully enhance gameplay or primarily serve as limited-time incentives remains to be seen. Many players appreciate fresh visuals and voice lines, yet crossover events often spark debate about balance when powerful effects are tied to paid or grindable cosmetics. The free access window during High Five Day helps mitigate paywall concerns for casual participants, but dedicated players will still need to engage with draws and tasks for the rarer rewards.

In a crowded mobile gaming market where attention spans are short, such collaborations function as both marketing and retention tools. Honor of Kings continues to emphasize fair-to-win mechanics and esports depth, yet events like this highlight the growing reliance on external intellectual properties to sustain momentum. The integration appears cleanly executed from the details shared, though long-term impact will depend on how naturally the Titan-themed abilities fit into the existing meta and whether they encourage genuine team spirit beyond the event period.
