Apple’s second wave of developer betas for its fall releases, focusing on Apple Intelligence features, is now available. This includes new builds for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
These 18.1 betas run parallel to the ongoing betas for the standard fall updates (iOS 18, iPadOS 18, etc.). The key distinction in the 18.1 versions is the inclusion of Apple Intelligence, showcasing Apple’s foray into generative AI and machine learning.
This second beta brings improvements like a revamped Siri animation, the ability to type to Siri, and a smarter understanding of user queries and context. Additionally, there are new writing tools and expanded product knowledge for Siri.
While the fifth developer beta of iOS 18 introduced features like Distraction Control in Safari and changes to the Photos app, it’s highly likely that these updates have also been incorporated into the iOS 18.1 beta.
Remember, it’s advisable to avoid installing beta software on your primary devices due to the potential for data loss or other issues. Use secondary or non-essential hardware and always maintain sufficient backups.
