Apple Launches Invites App, a new way to plan and share life’s moments

Apple has released Apple Invites, a new iPhone app designed to simplify event planning and enhance shared experiences. The app allows users to create custom invitations for any occasion, making it easy to gather friends and family. Apple Invites is available for download on the App Store and can also be accessed via the web at icloud.com/ae/invites. While iCloud+ subscribers can create invitations, anyone can RSVP, regardless of whether they have an Apple Account or device.

Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, emphasized the app’s ability to bring events to life from the initial invitation creation and facilitate lasting memories. He highlighted the integration of familiar features from iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, streamlining the process of planning special events.

Apple Invites provides tools for creating visually appealing invitations. Users can select images from their photo library or choose from the app’s curated collection of backgrounds, which includes images representing various occasions and themes. Integration with Maps and Weather apps provides guests with directions to the event location and relevant weather forecasts.

The app also fosters shared memory keeping. Participants can contribute photos and videos to a dedicated Shared Album within each invite, preserving memories of the event. For Apple Music subscribers, collaborative playlists allow for the creation of an event soundtrack accessible to all guests directly through Apple Invites.

Apple Intelligence enhances the invitation creation process. The built-in Image Playground allows users to generate original images using descriptions, concepts, and even people from their photo library. Writing Tools also assist in crafting the perfect wording for invitations.

Managing and joining events is designed to be straightforward. Hosts have full control over their event invitations, with the ability to manage events, share invitations via links, track RSVPs, and customize preview details like the event background or address. Guests can respond to invitations using the iPhone app or through the web, without needing an iCloud+ subscription or Apple Account. Attendees control how their information is displayed to others and can leave or report an event at any time.

iCloud+ subscribers gain access to additional premium features, including event creation within Apple Invites. Other iCloud+ benefits include expanded storage for photos, videos, and files, Private Relay for secure browsing in Safari, Hide My Email for generating random email addresses, HomeKit Secure Video for encrypted home security footage, custom email domains, and Family Sharing, which allows sharing of the iCloud+ subscription with up to five family members.

Apple Invites is available as a free download on the App Store for iPhones running iOS 18 or later and can be accessed online at icloud.com/ae/invites.
