Android Auto’s Google Assistant goes a bit Siri-ous

Google’s given Android Auto’s Google Assistant a bit of a facelift, and well, it’s looking a little too familiar. Like, weirdly similar to Apple’s Siri on CarPlay familiar.

Instead of the usual minimalist bar at the bottom, we now have a colorful, animated wave popping up whenever you’re chatting with the Assistant. It’s kinda flashy, kinda distracting, and definitely giving off some serious Siri vibes.

Sure, it might make voice interactions feel a bit more interactive and fun, but is it really necessary? Some might argue it’s just a bit of unnecessary eye candy cluttering up the screen. After all, we’re driving here, not attending a light show!

The big question is: Is this the future of Google Assistant on Android Auto, or just a temporary experiment? Google might be testing the waters to see how users react. Either way, it’s a bold move, and one that’s bound to spark some debate among Android Auto enthusiasts.

For now, this new UI seems to be limited to a select few users on Android Auto version 12.5. But if it does become the norm, well, let’s just say Android Auto might be feeling a little less Android and a little more… Apple-y.
