You Can Now Add A Bit Of Colour To Your Facebook Posts

The colours blue and white have long been synonymous with NYPD cop cars, checkered shirts and, for nearly a decade, Facebook. That’s about to change with a small new feature the social media giant has introduced to its Android app: background colours.

When writing up a new status update, you now have the option to now change the colour of the otherwise default white background. The colour options are a bit limited currently, but you do also have the options of using gradient backgrounds. The other limitation is the fact that it doesn’t work with posts that include GIFs, links, videos or images.

“We’re rolling out a change to help people make their text posts more visual. Starting today, people can update the background color of their text-only posts on Android.”

The feature is rolling out to Android users first over the course of the week, but you won’t need an Android device to see the change as the new statuses are viewable across all platforms. iOS and the Web will be able to make their own colourful posts “in the coming months.” While it’s surprising that IOS wasn’t the preferred first choice, another welcome change is that it is being tested in regions abroad, i.e: not the US.
