YouTube has released a new feature for creators called layout editing. This update allows users to modify the layout of existing videos when turning them into Shorts.
Similar to TikTok videos and Instagram Reels, Shorts is a short-form video feature that allows users to create and share 60-second videos.
How to use it:
- Tap the “Remix” button on the desired video and select “Edit into a Short.”
- After trimming the chosen video segment, users can click “Select layout” to choose from different formats, including single, square, and split-screen options.
- Pinch-and-drag functionality allows more adjustments to optimize the framing within the selected layout.
- Save and upload.
YouTube said that this feature is currently on iOS only but will be rolling out to Android soon.
