WhatsApp rolls out improved navigation for Android

WhatsApp is making it easier to navigate the popular messaging app with a brand-new bottom navbar, now officially rolling out on Android devices. This update replaces the old top bar, making it more convenient to reach everything with your thumbs – perfect for those larger modern smartphones.

What’s Changed?

  • “Communities” gets its own dedicated spot for quick access.
  • “Status” is now rebranded as “Updates.”
  • The layout now goes: “Chats,” “Updates,” “Communities,” and “Calls.”

This update brings Android in line with the iOS version of WhatsApp, though some minor differences remain.

Why the Change?

WhatsApp touts the new design as “closer to your thumbs” and “easy on the eyes.” The updated layout does align better with modern design trends.

The new bottom navigation bar should be rolling out to your Android device right now. Check for the update on your app store and see if it’s available!
