WhatsApp rolls out context cards to combat unwanted group invites

WhatsApp is taking proactive measures to address the issue of unwanted group chat invitations from unknown users. The company has recently started rolling out a new feature called “context cards” to provide users with more information about a group before they decide to join.

The context cards will appear when a user receives a group invite from an unknown contact. They will contain details such as the group’s creation date, a brief description of its purpose, and information about the group creator. This information will empower users to make informed decisions about whether or not to accept the invitation.

In addition to the information displayed in the context cards, users will have the option to report, block, or leave the group directly from the context menu. This quick and easy access to these actions will help users take immediate action if they feel uncomfortable or suspicious about the group invite.

WhatsApp’s CEO has confirmed that the context card feature is being rolled out globally, and some users have already started seeing it. However, it will take a few weeks for the feature to become available to all users worldwide.
