Dragon Ball Cross Force brings new mechanics to Fusion World TCG

Dragon Ball has endured for more than four decades as a cornerstone of battle shōnen storytelling, shaping global perceptions of anime and manga through its blend of martial arts action, character growth, and escalating conflicts. Created by Akira Toriyama, the series introduced countless fans to the world of Goku and the Z Fighters, influencing everything from subsequent animated productions to video games and merchandise. Even after Toriyama’s passing, the franchise sustains active discussion around its evolving direction, the mixed reception of recent entries like Dragon Ball Daima, and ongoing fan debates about power scaling and narrative arcs.

Now the Dragon Ball Super CG Fusion World trading card game gains another layer with the release of its tenth booster set, Cross Force, arriving on June 12, 2026. This expansion builds on a system introduced in 2024 as a more approachable option alongside the deeper, veteran-oriented Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters format. Fusion World has carved out space by simplifying rules and lowering the entry barrier, which has helped draw newer players while a digital version extends accessibility beyond physical cards. Whether this streamlined approach ultimately strengthens long-term engagement or dilutes strategic depth remains an open question among longtime collectors, yet it clearly broadens the audience for the franchise’s collectible card offerings.

Cross Force introduces two central mechanics—Evolve and Ki—that color-specific decks emphasize in varying degrees. This setup promises expanded deck-building options and fresh strategic avenues, though success will depend on how well they integrate with existing card pools without creating unbalanced matchups. The set spotlights several recognizable characters as new leaders, including Vegito, Bojack, Cell, and a dual Gohan/Piccolo option. These additions tap directly into fan nostalgia, potentially energizing competitive play and casual interest alike. In total, the release comprises 123 cards, featuring five leaders, 15 super rares, and three secret rares, with Bandai applying upgraded treatments and alternate-art variants to heighten collector appeal.

From a broader perspective, the Dragon Ball TCG landscape reflects the franchise’s enduring commercial strength even as the industry shifts toward digital formats and cross-media integration. Earlier games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ demonstrated the appeal of interactive Dragon Ball experiences, while card games test different aspects of fan investment—tactical thinking, community building, and the thrill of pulling premium cards. Cross Force arrives at a time when many players seek both mechanical innovation and faithful character representation. Its focus on premium treatments for secret rares may please dedicated collectors, yet it also raises familiar concerns about accessibility and secondary market pricing that have long shadowed high-end TCG expansions.

Ultimately, the set underscores Dragon Ball’s continued relevance in a crowded entertainment field. It offers familiar faces and new tools for those already invested, while the accessible nature of Fusion World could introduce others to the satisfaction of building and battling with these iconic warriors. As with past expansions, real impact will emerge through community feedback and tournament results over the coming months rather than launch-day excitement alone. For fans tracking the franchise across anime, games, and collectibles, Cross Force represents another incremental step in an ongoing saga that shows little sign of fading.
