WhatsApp revamps reactions: say it with a double tap!

Get ready for a faster, more expressive way to react on WhatsApp! The popular messaging app is borrowing a page from its sister platform, Instagram, by introducing double-tap message reactions.

Currently under testing on Android, this feature allows users to instantly react to messages with a heart emoji – just like on Instagram – with a simple double tap. It’s a time-saver for quick responses, especially when viewing photos, videos, or GIFs directly in the media viewer.

While double tapping is reserved for the heart emoji, you can still access the full range of reactions by long-pressing on a message. This gives you the flexibility to express yourself with any emoji you like.

The feature is currently available to those on the WhatsApp for Android beta channel. Joining the beta program through the Play Store is possible, but slots are often limited.

However, there’s a catch: there’s currently no option to disable double-tap reactions. This might lead to some accidental reactions while scrolling through chat history, a potential inconvenience for some users.

Despite this minor hiccup, the double-tap reaction feature is expected to roll out to all WhatsApp users in the near future. So, get ready to double-tap your way to faster and more engaging conversations on WhatsApp!
