Threads, Meta’s text-based social network, is experimenting with a new feature that allows users to create custom feeds based on specific topics or accounts. This addition aims to provide users with more control over their content experience and address concerns about the platform’s algorithmic “for you” feed.
The feature, currently in testing, enables users to create custom feeds by searching for keywords or adding specific profiles. These feeds can be pinned to the app’s home screen for easy access, offering an alternative to the default algorithmic and “following” feeds.
This functionality closely resembles Bluesky’s custom feeds feature, which has been praised for its flexibility and user-centric approach. While Bluesky’s implementation involves a more technical process for creating new feeds, Threads’ version appears to be more straightforward.

The introduction of custom feeds comes as Threads faces increasing competition from Bluesky, which has seen a surge in user growth recently. This move suggests that Meta is actively responding to user feedback and exploring new ways to enhance the Threads experience.
