Roblox bolsters child safety with new features and parental controls

Roblox, the popular gaming platform, has announced a series of new safety features and parental controls designed to better protect its youngest users. These updates come in response to growing concerns about child safety on the platform and aim to provide parents with more tools to manage their children’s online experience.

One of the most significant changes is the restriction of direct messaging for users under 13. Children in this age group will no longer be able to send or receive direct messages, both within games and on the platform in general. This measure aims to reduce the risk of children being contacted by strangers and potentially exposed to harmful interactions.

Roblox is also introducing a new parental control dashboard that allows parents to link their own Roblox account to their child’s account. This enables parents to remotely manage their child’s settings, including approving game access based on content maturity, setting screen time limits, and monitoring their child’s friend list.

In addition to these changes, Roblox is implementing a new content labeling system that provides more detailed information about the maturity level of each game. This will help parents make informed decisions about which games are appropriate for their children.

These updates represent a significant step forward in Roblox’s ongoing efforts to enhance child safety on its platform. By providing parents with more control and implementing stricter measures to protect young users, Roblox aims to create a safer and more enjoyable online experience for all.
