Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Poco, has officially launched its highly anticipated Poco F7 series, marking its entry into the ultra-premium smartphone market with the F7 Ultra. This new model, essentially a global version of the Redmi K80 Pro, positions itself as a formidable competitor to flagship devices, offering powerful specifications at a more accessible price point.
The Poco F7 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a processor also found in the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. This high-performance chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, promising users a smooth and responsive experience. Despite these flagship-level specifications, the F7 Ultra is priced at £649 (approximately $835), making it a compelling option for those seeking high-end performance without the premium price tag.

Poco, traditionally known for its budget-friendly smartphones, is now venturing into flagship territory with the F7 series. The F7 Ultra’s camera setup includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 2.5x telephoto camera, a 32MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies, catering to users who prioritize photography.
The device boasts a large 6.67-inch OLED display with a 1440p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, providing a visually immersive experience. Notably, the F7 Ultra introduces an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, enhancing security with 3D fingerprint data capture.
A substantial 5,300mAh battery powers the F7 Ultra, supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Poco claims that the device can be fully charged in just 34 minutes via wired charging.

The F7 Ultra is available in a vibrant yellow finish, as well as a more subdued black option, both featuring glossy accents around the camera module. The device also features an IP68 rating, ensuring resistance to water and dust, a standard feature in contemporary flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S25, iPhone 16, and Google Pixel 9 series. However, the display is protected by Poco’s Shield Glass, rather than the widely used Corning Gorilla Glass.
In terms of software, the F7 Ultra runs on Hyper OS 2, based on Android 15, and includes a suite of AI-powered features. These features include a Google-powered AI assistant, tailored to Xiaomi’s multimodal processing technology, enabling text, voice, and image interaction. Users can also utilize Google’s Gemini for image creation, real-time information access, and cross-app actions. Poco has committed to providing four years of OS updates and six years of security patches for the F7 series.

Alongside the F7 Ultra, Poco has also released the F7 Pro, priced at £499 (approximately $645). The F7 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a larger 6,000mAh battery, but it lacks the telephoto camera and wireless charging support found in the Ultra model.
The Poco F7 series represents a significant step for Xiaomi’s sub-brand, offering consumers powerful Android smartphones with flagship-level features at competitive prices. The F7 Ultra, in particular, poses a strong challenge to established flagship devices, showcasing Poco’s ambition to compete in the high-end smartphone market.
