Opera has rolled out a significant update for its iOS browser, introducing new features designed to improve user experience and accessibility. The update focuses primarily on two key areas: enhanced home screen widgets and expanded access to the browser’s built-in AI, Aria.
Opera’s updated iOS app now includes customizable home screen widgets, providing users with quick access to frequently used functions. With a single tap, users can launch a new private browsing tab or engage directly with Aria, the browser’s AI assistant. A long press on the Opera icon reveals even more shortcuts, further streamlining common browsing tasks. This emphasis on widget functionality allows for a more efficient and personalized browsing experience.
Previously, Opera’s Aria AI tool required users to be signed in to their Opera account. With the latest update, this requirement has been removed, making Aria accessible to all users. Aria offers a range of capabilities, from answering questions and conducting web searches to generating images using Google’s Imagen 3 Fast model.
While unregistered users can utilize Aria’s features, image generation is capped at five images per day. Registered users, on the other hand, enjoy a higher limit of 30 images per day. This change reflects Opera’s commitment to providing a more inclusive and user-friendly browsing experience.
Opera has reported a notable increase in its iOS user base in recent months. The company attributes this growth to its ongoing efforts to enhance the browser’s functionality and user experience. By introducing features such as customizable widgets and readily available AI assistance, Opera aims to solidify its position as a leading mobile browser.
The updated Opera browser is available for free on the App Store and is compatible with iPhones and iPads running iOS 14 or later.
