Samsung has announced the launch of its One UI 7 beta program, providing a glimpse into the advanced security and privacy features coming to Galaxy devices. This update focuses on strengthening device protection in response to the evolving landscape of AI and increased connectivity.
One UI 7 lays the groundwork for Knox Matrix, Samsung’s integrated security platform. The new Knox Matrix dashboard offers a centralized view of the security status of connected Samsung devices, including smartphones, TVs, and home appliances. Users can easily monitor device security and receive recommendations for addressing potential risks.
Enhanced Data Protection within Knox Matrix now allows users to recover data stored on Samsung Cloud by verifying their previous device’s lock screen credentials. Additionally, passkey support has been introduced for Samsung Account logins, enabling secure and streamlined authentication across various devices.

One UI 7 expands the Maximum Restrictions feature, giving users granular control over network connections. Users can now block 2G service, prevent automatic reconnection to potentially insecure Wi-Fi networks, and manage data sharing within Samsung Messages and Gallery.
This update introduces several new security settings, including the ability to block USB connections when the device is locked and a Safe Install system that warns users about potential risks when sideloading apps.

One UI 7 also bolsters theft protection with features like Identity Check, which requires biometric authentication for security setting changes in unfamiliar locations, and a security delay to prevent unauthorized modifications.
The One UI 7 beta program is initially available for Galaxy S24 series devices in select countries, with a wider rollout planned for other Galaxy devices in the future. The official release will begin with upcoming Galaxy S series devices in the first quarter of 2025.
