Nothing has released the second open beta of its Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 for the Phone (2a). This update introduces a range of new features and improvements, focusing on enhanced sharing capabilities, camera performance, and overall user experience.
One of the standout additions is Shared Widgets, a feature that allows users to connect with friends and family by sharing widgets on their home screens. This enables interactions through reactions, offering a unique way to stay connected.
The update also brings refinements to Quick Settings, including smoother animations and improved user experience. The Smart Drawer has been enhanced with better app categorization accuracy and an auto-sort feature that organizes apps based on usage patterns.
Camera enthusiasts will appreciate the upgrades to camera stability, HDR algorithm, Portrait Mode, and Ultra HDR Mode brightness. These enhancements aim to deliver a more reliable and higher-quality photography experience.
Performance optimizations include AI-powered app prioritization for smoother operation and support for a 90 fps refresh rate in PUBG for enhanced gameplay. A new onboarding guide for Pop-up view has also been added.
While this beta build offers exciting new features, Nothing acknowledges some known issues. Shared Widgets are currently limited to Nothing devices and Photo Widgets, and users may encounter occasional issues due to the beta status.
To install Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 2 on the Phone (2a), ensure you have Nothing OS 3.0 with build number Pacman-V3.0-240923-2135 installed. The update can be accessed through Settings > System > System updates.
