Nomad releases a new dual-device cable for Apple Watch and iPhone

Nomad has released a new charging cable that offers a unique approach to powering up multiple devices. The Universal Cable for Apple Watch is designed to charge both an Apple Watch and another USB-C device simultaneously, aiming to simplify the charging process for users who own multiple gadgets.

This 1.5-meter cable features a built-in wireless charging pad specifically designed for the Apple Watch, integrated directly into the cable itself. This design allows users to charge their Apple Watch alongside another device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or even a laptop, from a single power source.

The cable is compatible with a range of Apple Watch models, including the Series 7 through 10, as well as the Ultra and Ultra 2, supporting fast charging for these devices. It also works with the AirPods Pro 2 and the 4th generation AirPods with Active Noise Cancellation.

To effectively charge multiple devices, Nomad recommends using a power adapter with a minimum output of 20W. The cable itself is capable of handling up to 100W of power delivery when paired with a compatible adapter. However, the cable’s design prioritizes power to the wireless charging pad for the Apple Watch. This means that when charging an Apple Watch or compatible AirPods, the USB-C connector’s power output will be limited to a maximum of 92W.

While the primary function of this cable is charging, it can also be used for data transfer, although at a limited speed. The cable supports USB 2.0 data transfer rates, which, while sufficient for basic syncing, are not ideal for transferring large files quickly.

One of the key features of the Universal Cable is its versatility. It can be used to charge devices from a wall outlet, a computer’s USB-C port, or even a smartphone with a USB-C port. For instance, you could charge your Apple Watch from your iPhone, and simultaneously charge your AirPods from the other end of the cable. If connected to a device capable of providing more power, such as a MacBook or iPad, the iPhone will receive power and begin charging.

The cable’s exterior is constructed with a double-braided Kevlar weave, a material known for its strength and durability. The connectors are reinforced with electroplated metal, adding to the cable’s overall resilience.

Priced at AED 390, Nomad’s Universal Cable for Apple Watch is positioned as a premium charging solution. While it may be more expensive than standard charging cables, its dual-device charging capability and durable construction could make it a worthwhile investment for users looking to streamline their charging setups.
