Apple’s next generation CarPlay, which was first revealed in 2022 is set to start rolling out in 2024. The next gen CarPlay will be be taking over your the dashboard, instead of the current infotainment screen.
Up until now, CarPlay has existed as software that will run independently of the car’s main system with limited control on what users can do with it. The new version of CarPlay will have a deeper integration with the overall car systems, including a bespoke interface that will even take over the instrument panel, and mostly all the car’s system tweaks.
Apple is launching the next generation CarPlay with Porsche and Aston Martin in 2024. The two brands have revealed photos showing how the new integration will look like. Apple CarPlay will be able to control temperatures and fan speeds for example.

No specific dates have been confirmed yet on the actual launch.
