New report reveals more details about Apple’s iPhone 17 Air

iPhone Air render Front Page Tech

Apple is reportedly planning to launch an ultra-thin iPhone model, tentatively called the iPhone 17 Air, in 2025. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this new iPhone will be the thinnest ever produced by Apple, measuring just 6.25mm thick.

This design focus represents a shift in Apple’s strategy, as the company explores whether consumers will prioritize an ultra-thin form factor over high-end specifications. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be priced higher than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, despite having less powerful specs.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, a non-Pro A19 application processor, 8GB of RAM, and a single rear camera. It will also include Apple’s in-house 5G modem chip, which is set to debut in the iPhone SE 4 earlier in the year.

This custom modem chip will allow Apple to achieve the iPhone 17 Air’s thin profile while still accommodating essential components like the camera, battery, and display.

The success of the iPhone 17 Air remains to be seen. While the ultra-thin design may appeal to some consumers, the higher price tag and less powerful specs could deter others. This new model represents an interesting experiment for Apple as it explores new strategies to appeal to different segments of the smartphone market.
