Chinese brands like OPPO and Tecno have their own flip phones, and now Nubia joins the fray. At MWC 2024, they unveiled the Nubia Flip 5G. At a starting price of $599, it’s not out to dethrone the Galaxy Z Fold. Specs-wise, it aligns more closely with the Razr.
The design is familiar – a clamshell foldable with a twist. The main 6.9-inch screen boasts a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a small 1.43-inch circular external display, great for quick notifications, selfies using the rear cameras, or media controls.
Cameras are decent: twin 50MP rear snappers and a 16MP front-facing one. The folding design allows for cool multi-angle shots using the front camera.

It’s not a powerhouse, running on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip (same as the current Razr). Like most flip phones, battery life is a potential concern, with a 4310mAh capacity. At least there’s 33W fast charging.
The Nubia Flip 5G is an interesting option for those looking for new options in the flip phone world. Its price and specs make it a potential Razr challenger.
