Huawei Pura X2 leak points to larger screens and camera upgrades

A new leak has offered a clearer picture of what to expect from the upcoming Huawei Pura X2, suggesting that the company is preparing a more ambitious update to its foldable lineup. While the device was initially expected to debut in March, recent reports from China now point to an April launch, indicating a possible reshuffling of Huawei’s early 2026 release schedule.

According to information shared by a tipster on Weibo, the Pura X2 is expected to feature a significantly larger foldable display compared to its predecessor. The inner screen is said to measure 7.69 inches with a WQHD+ resolution, while the outer display could grow to around 5.5 inches. If accurate, this would represent a notable step up from the original Pura X, which launched in 2025 with a 6.3-inch inner panel and a much smaller 3.5-inch cover screen. The larger external display in particular suggests Huawei is aiming to make the device more usable when folded, reducing reliance on the main screen for everyday tasks.

Performance-wise, the leak claims the Pura X2 will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030 chipset. While details about this processor remain limited, its inclusion would continue Huawei’s strategy of relying on in-house silicon rather than third-party platforms. The device is also expected to ship with HarmonyOS 6.1, reinforcing Huawei’s ongoing effort to build a fully integrated hardware and software ecosystem within China.

Camera upgrades also appear to be part of the refresh. The Pura X2 is rumored to add a telephoto camera, a feature not prominently associated with earlier leaks. Additional reports suggest a quad-camera setup overall, potentially including a high-resolution 200-megapixel main sensor as part of a triple rear camera array. If implemented, this would position the Pura X2 more competitively within the premium foldable segment, where camera performance remains a key differentiator.

Memory and storage configurations are expected to remain at the high end, with options reportedly reaching up to 20GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Color choices are also said to be extensive, including blue, black, green, orange, purple, and white, continuing Huawei’s recent trend of offering bold finishes alongside more conventional options.

There is still some uncertainty around Huawei’s broader launch roadmap. A Chinese tech blogger has suggested that the company may introduce its Pura 90 flagship series before unveiling the Pura X2, which could explain the shift away from an early first-quarter release. As with most pre-launch information, these details remain unofficial, but they point to Huawei positioning the Pura X2 as a more mature and capable foldable rather than a minor iteration.
