Google’s Bard is stepping up its game with the introduction of AI image generation, a feature that has been available on rival ChatGPT Plus for quite some time.
Users can now prompt Bard to create images using Google’s Imagen 2 text-to-image model. While Bard has always been equipped with image generation capabilities, it was initially expected to be powered by the more robust Gemini Ultra model, which is still under development.
Google emphasizes that Bard’s image capability has been developed with responsibility in mind. To indicate that the images are AI-generated, Google has implemented a watermarking feature embedded into the pixels of the photos. Additionally, the company has implemented technical and safety measures to prevent the generation of images depicting well-known individuals and to limit violent, offensive, or sexually explicit content.
In addition to image generation, Bard is expanding its language support to over 40 languages in more than 230 countries. Previously, the chatbot was only available in English and accessible in 170 countries. Some of the newly supported languages include Arabic, Bengali, Tamil, and Urdu.
