Google has rolled out a handy update to its Gmail app for Android, giving users more control over their search results. Now, when you search for a specific email, you can sort the results by “Most recent” or “Most relevant.”
This new sorting filter appears just below the search bar in the Gmail app. With a simple tap, you can choose how you want your search results displayed. This makes it much easier to quickly find the email you’re looking for, whether it’s a recent message or a crucial email from weeks or months ago.
Previously, Gmail on Android only displayed search results in a seemingly random order. This could make it time-consuming to locate a specific email, especially if you had a lot of messages in your inbox. This new feature provides a more efficient way to navigate your inbox and find what you need.
While the sorting feature is a welcome addition, it appears that some other features spotted in earlier versions of the app have not yet made their debut. For instance, there were hints of cards appearing at the top of the screen, similar to those seen in shopping order emails, and an AI-powered “Polish” tool to help users refine longer emails. It remains to be seen whether these features will be released in the future.
This update highlights Google’s ongoing efforts to improve the Gmail experience on Android devices. By giving users more control and flexibility, Gmail continues to be a leading email app for both personal and professional use.
