When Threads initially launched, Meta uses the same credentials as Instagram to make it easier for user to instantly create their account and login, and because of this move, you couldn’t delete your threads credentials without also deleting your instagram profile.
Meta has now changed this process with the latest version of the Threads app for iOS and Android, allowing users to delete their Threads accounts independently.
To delete your account, go to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile. If you choose Deactivate Profile, everything will be put on hold and archived until you decide to reactivate again. If you delete your account, well, as it implies, you will lose all your data, but retain your Insta account.
The feature is still being rolled out to users gradually.
