Dubai’s e-hailing market is about to get more competitive with the arrival of Bolt, a major player in the global ride-hailing scene. Bolt, which operates in over 600 cities across 50 countries, is partnering with Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) to launch its services in the emirate.
The announcement was made at GITEX Global, with both companies expressing their commitment to creating the largest e-hailing platform in the UAE. This strategic partnership combines DTC’s extensive fleet of over 6,000 taxis and limousines with Bolt’s innovative technology and global expertise.
While a specific launch date has yet to be confirmed, the partnership promises to deliver “innovative e-hailing solutions” and an “enhanced customer digital mobility experience,” according to Dubai Media Office. This suggests that Bolt may introduce a range of services beyond traditional taxi hailing, potentially including food and grocery delivery, scooter and e-bike rentals, and short-term car rentals, as it does in other markets.
The arrival of Bolt is set to intensify competition in the UAE’s e-hailing market, currently dominated by Careem and Uber. With its focus on innovation and customer experience, Bolt could disrupt the existing landscape and offer riders more choice and potentially more competitive pricing.
This development is likely to be welcomed by consumers, who will benefit from increased competition and a wider range of mobility options. It also signals Dubai’s continued commitment to embracing technology and innovation to enhance its transportation infrastructure.
