Apple’s new iPhone SE might be announced next week

Apple appears poised to refresh its budget-friendly iPhone SE model, with rumors suggesting an announcement as early as next week and a release later in February. Reports and leaks paint a picture of a significantly updated device, incorporating design elements from the iPhone 14, a more powerful chip, and other key improvements.

The next iPhone SE is expected to adopt the iPhone 14’s aesthetic, featuring a larger display and ditching Touch ID in favor of Face ID. Powering the device will reportedly be the A18 chip, which is anticipated to support Apple’s forthcoming Apple Intelligence features. Notably, the new iPhone SE may also be Apple’s first device to utilize an in-house cellular modem. In line with recent trends, the phone is also rumored to include a USB-C port, potentially clearing the way for its sale in the European Union.

These details align with leaked photos and videos attributed to leaker Majin Bu, which depict a device resembling the iPhone 14 with a single rear camera. These leaks further reinforce the expectation of a significant design refresh for the iPhone SE.

The anticipated price point for the new iPhone SE is around $500, a notable increase from the 2022 model’s starting price of $429. This price adjustment reflects the upgraded features and design, positioning the new SE as a more premium budget option.

While Apple has not officially commented on these reports, Bloomberg suggests that the company is unlikely to hold a formal launch event. Instead, the new iPhone SE may be announced via a press release on Apple’s website.

Looking ahead, Apple’s plans for its other iPhone models are also generating buzz. Rumors indicate the development of a thin iPhone, possibly named the “iPhone 17 Air,” while Bloomberg reports that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro are slated for “major updates” later this year.
