Apple has announced updates to its iPad Air line, introducing the M3 chip and new features designed to enhance performance and user experience. The latest iPad Air models are available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, offering users more screen real estate.

The key upgrade is the inclusion of the M3 chip, which Apple states provides a significant performance boost compared to previous iPad Air models. The M3 chip features an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU, supporting features like dynamic caching, mesh shading, and ray tracing. Apple emphasizes the chip’s capabilities for graphics-intensive tasks and AI-driven features.

The new iPad Air is designed to support Apple Intelligence, Apple’s suite of AI features within iPadOS 18. These features include enhancements to the Photos app, Notes app, and Siri, with the goal of providing more intuitive and efficient user interactions. The inclusion of ChatGPT integration within Siri and Writing Tools allows users to access AI assistance without switching between applications. Apple has also stated that privacy is a major concern, and that data used by Apple Intelligence will be kept private.

A new Magic Keyboard has been introduced, featuring a larger trackpad and a 14-key function row. The keyboard attaches magnetically and uses the Smart Connector for power and data.

Apple has also updated the base-model iPad, now featuring the A16 chip and doubled starting storage. iPadOS 18 brings new features to both the iPad Air and the base-model iPad, including an updated Calculator app with Math Notes, enhancements to the Notes app, and improved audio recording and transcription capabilities.

Apple emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability, stating that the new iPad Air and iPad models feature recycled materials and meet energy efficiency standards.

The new iPad Air and iPad models are available for pre-order, with availability beginning March 12.The iPad Air is available in various configurations and colors, with pricing starting at AED 2,499 for the 11-inch model and AED 3,299 for the 13-inch model. The base-model iPad starts at AED 1,399. The new Magic Keyboard is available separately, with pricing starting at AED 1,099.
