Apple has announced an anew App Store pilot program called “contingent pricing” that gives app developers the ability to offer discounts to customers with multiple subscriptions with an aim to retain them.
Apple says this new model can be used for subscriptions from one developer or two different developers. For example, a developer will be able to attract a customer to subscribe by offering discounted pricing if they have an active subscription with another app. By doing this, Apple is opening the opportunity of partnerships between different companies and developers.
Apple said it is currently piloting this feature and will be onboarding more developers in the coming months, and people can sign up to get notified when more details are available in January.
