Apple is expanding the availability of its AirPods Pro 2 hearing health features to more countries with the upcoming release of iOS 18.2. The update will bring hearing tests and hearing aid configuration options to users in the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Czechia, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, and Spain.
These features allow AirPods Pro 2 users to conduct a hearing test directly from their iPhone to assess their hearing health. Based on the test results, users can then configure their AirPods Pro 2 to function as clinical-grade hearing aids in supported regions.
This expansion joins over 100 countries and regions where these features were already accessible, demonstrating Apple’s commitment to making hearing health technology more widely available.
However, the Hearing Protection feature, which automatically reduces loud and intermittent sounds, remains limited to the United States and Canada.
To utilize these features, users need AirPods Pro 2 with the latest firmware, paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. The features are available to users aged 18 years and older.
While Apple has not announced an official release date for iOS 18.2, it is expected to launch soon, given that the Release Candidate version is already available for beta testers.
