AI brought back John Lennon back to life in The Beatles’ latest song release

The Beatles have released their first “new” song since 1995. “Now and Then” written and sung by John Lennon. Of course this was made possible using AI. The song is now available on all streaming services.

How did this song come to life?

After Lennon was killed in 1980, his wife, Yoko Ono, gave Paul McCartney a cassette tape labeled “For Paul.” In 1995 and 1996, which the group worked on and released 2 songs form the tapes as part of the multimedia Anthology project. “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”.

“Now and Then” didn’t make the cut at the time due to the complexity and quality of the recording. Fast forward to 2022, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr turned to AI to rework the quality and separate Lennon’s original vocals from the piano music that backed it. Once that was done, McCartney and Ringo Starr recorded the backing instruments, and voila, a “new” song was born.
