Forza Horizon 6 feels like the racing game the franchise has been building toward for years.

It captures the excitement of speed, the obsession behind car culture, and the satisfaction of driving in a way very few modern racing games manage to achieve. And in a location that’s been demanded for a very long time. Forza Horizon 6 understands why people love driving in the first place and it gives that and so much more in absolute flawless fashion.

From the moment you enter the world, the game immediately creates a sense of freedom and atmosphere that feels authentic to automotive enthusiasts. The roads are varied, detailed, and designed with purpose. Long sweeping highways encourage high-speed cruising, mountain roads reward precision driving, and dense city streets become playgrounds for late-night runs and drifting sessions. Every section of the map feels built for a different type of driver and a different type of machine.

That is what makes Horizon 6 so impressive. The game constantly encourages experimentation. One moment you are driving a lightweight Japanese coupe through technical corners with careful throttle control, and the next you are testing the limits of a twin-turbo hypercar on an open expressway at over 300 kilometers per hour. The world adapts to the car you choose, which makes every vehicle feel meaningful rather than disposable.

The Horizon franchise has always been known for accessibility, but Horizon 6 introduces a level of driving depth that gives the game far more personality than previous entries. The handling model finally feels refined enough to satisfy players who genuinely enjoy the technical side of driving. Braking points matter. Weight transfer matters. Entering a corner too aggressively will punish you with understeer, while poor throttle management can send the rear of the car sliding unexpectedly during wet conditions.

Most importantly, smooth driving is rewarded. Earlier Horizon games often prioritized chaos and spectacle over technique, but with Forza Horizon 6, this feels far more focused on the actual art of driving. Fast lap times come from precision, consistency, and understanding how each car behaves under pressure. Players who enjoy proper racing lines and controlled cornering will immediately notice the difference.

The mountain roads are where the game truly shines. These sections feel inspired by real driving culture and touge racing. Tight corners, rapid elevation changes, narrow lanes, and unpredictable weather conditions create some of the most exciting driving the series has ever offered.

The story in Forza Horizon 6 takes a more grounded and personal approach compared to previous Horizon games. Instead of immediately positioning you as the biggest superstar in the festival, the game starts with you arriving as an unknown driver trying to earn recognition within the Horizon scene. The festival itself feels more connected to underground car culture this time around, especially with the strong focus on street racing, mountain driving, and regional automotive communities. Different parts of the map introduce different driving styles and rival personalities.

The city areas revolve around high-speed night racing and tuner culture, while the mountain regions focus heavily on technical driving and precision. Throughout the campaign, you slowly build your reputation by defeating elite drivers, growing your garage, and unlocking invitations to larger showcase events. The narrative feels less exaggerated than Horizon 5 and more inspired by real driving culture, which makes progression feel more satisfying and believable.

There’s even a ridiculous part of the campaign for the “Mech My Day” showcase event because it represents Forza Horizon 6 at its most self-aware and culturally connected. The inclusion of gundam in a racing game mech feels like Playground Games fully embracing the country’s deep-rooted influence on automotive culture, anime, and mecha entertainment rather than simply using Japan as a visual backdrop.

For longtime Horizon players, showcase events have always been the series’ defining moments, but this one pushes the formula further by blending Japanese pop culture with Horizon’s signature festival energy. It’s ridiculous, cinematic, and completely unrealistic, yet that’s precisely why it works. The race becomes more than just another scripted set piece. It’s a statement that Horizon is a celebration of car culture and entertainment in every exaggerated form possible.

Customization in Forza Horizon 6 is easily one of the biggest upgrades in the series, especially for players who are deeply into car culture and personalization. The game goes far beyond changing paint colors and body kits this time. Cars now support more detailed visual modifications, including expanded options, deeper wheel customization, window liveries, and rare aftermarket builds scattered throughout the world.

What makes it more exciting is that customization finally feels connected to identity and driving style. Vehicles all feel mechanically different because tuning adjustments actually impact how the car behaves. Suspension geometry, tire compounds, differential settings, gear ratios, and aerodynamic balance now noticeably affect handling. Players who enjoy spending hours in tuning menus are going to love how much more responsive the cars feel after proper setup work.

The game also introduces customizable garages and personal compounds, which is honestly one of the coolest additions in the franchise. Every home you buy now includes a garage space you can decorate yourself. Furniture, lighting, wall art, storage racks, display layouts, and showcase car placements can all be customized. On top of that, Horizon 6 adds something called “The Estate,” which is essentially a massive customizable property in the countryside where players can build their own circuits, villages, drift parks, or car meet locations using the upgraded EventLab tools. It feels like Playground Games looked at how the community was already creating content in Horizon 5 and decided to massively expand it.

Photo Mode is another area that received meaningful upgrades, even if the core system remains familiar. The biggest addition is the drone camera and cinematic tools, which make it much easier to create staged car photography and rolling shots with friends. The lighting improvements in Horizon 6 also make photo mode far more impressive visually. Night photography in particular looks incredible because of the reflections, weather effects, and neon-heavy urban environments.

The AutoDrive feature might end up becoming one of the most underrated additions in the game. Through the ANNA navigation assistant, you can now activate an automated driving mode where the game drives your car to your destination while maintaining traffic awareness and navigation. At first that sounds gimmicky, but the cinematic mode attached to it changes everything. Once activated, the UI disappears and the camera starts dynamically shifting angles while your car cruises through the world. It basically turns the game into an automotive film generator.

The sound design deserves enormous praise because it adds so much personality to every vehicle. Horizon 6 understands that car enthusiasts care deeply about how a machine sounds and responds. Exhaust notes feel aggressive and distinct. Turbocharged cars produce satisfying flutter and spool noises under acceleration. Naturally aspirated engines scream at high RPMs with incredible detail.

There are moments during simple night drives where the combination of audio, lighting, and road design creates an atmosphere that feels genuinely immersive. Cruising through the city at midnight while rain reflects neon lights across the streets feels cinematic in the best possible way.

Graphically, Forza Horizon 6 feels like a massive leap forward for the franchise. The lighting system is easily the most impressive the series has ever had, especially during sunrise, sunset, and night driving sequences. Rain-soaked streets reflect neon signs with incredible detail, mountain roads disappear into dense fog during storms, and sunlight cuts through forests in ways that make the world feel cinematic without looking artificial.

The level of detail in the lighting, reflections, traffic density, draw distance, and weather simulation makes it one of the best-looking racing games ever made. The audio is equally impressive. Every engine sounds distinct and mechanical, from screaming naturally aspirated V10s to turbocharged JDM legends with aggressive spool and flutter sounds. Exhaust notes echo realistically through tunnels, tire noise changes depending on road surface and weather, and the soundtrack blends perfectly with the atmosphere of the world. Together, the visuals and sound design create an experience that constantly makes you want to keep driving, even when you are not racing at al

The environmental density is also far more advanced, with larger urban areas, more detailed countryside roads, improved weather effects, and significantly better car reflections and materials. On PC, the game scales incredibly well too. I personally ran it on a mid-tier setup with an RTX 3070 on High settings, and it performed beautifully with smooth frame rates and excellent image quality, which honestly speaks volumes about the optimization.

For players who love car photography, cinematics, content creation, or simply relaxing drives, this feature is huge. You can literally let the game drive while you enjoy the scenery, listen to the soundtrack, or capture cinematic footage without worrying about steering. It also makes convoy cruising and staged videos much easier for creators. What is especially impressive is how all these systems work together.

The improved map design, lighting engine, weather system, customization depth, and cinematic tools make Horizon 6 feel like the closest thing to a living automotive culture simulator the franchise has ever produced.
