Meta AI gets deeper business tools for ads and analytics

Meta is expanding Meta AI beyond general-purpose conversations with a set of business-focused features that connect the assistant directly to the data small companies already generate across Facebook, Instagram and Meta Ads. The update also adds Google Workspace integration, bringing Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides into the mix.

The idea is to reduce one of the less glamorous problems with using AI for business analysis: getting enough relevant information into the system before it can provide useful answers. Businesses can choose to connect their Facebook and Instagram accounts and advertising campaigns, allowing Meta AI to examine metrics such as reach, saves, shares, comments, profile visits and advertising performance within a conversation.

That gives Meta AI a potentially useful advantage for businesses already heavily invested in Meta’s platforms. Rather than manually exporting campaign reports or explaining previous social activity to an AI assistant, users can ask questions about recent performance directly. Meta says the system can identify patterns in successful content, examine which audiences and ad sets are performing well, flag creative that may be losing effectiveness and suggest areas where advertising budgets could be adjusted.

Organic social media is getting similar treatment. A business could ask which Instagram content performed best during the previous month, for example, and request recommendations based on its engagement data. Meta AI can also examine publicly available Facebook and Instagram activity from comparable brands, giving businesses a way to benchmark their social performance against competitors.

There is an important distinction here: recommendations produced by AI remain recommendations. Advertising performance can be affected by pricing, seasonality, attribution settings, creative quality and factors outside Meta’s platforms. Giving an AI model access to more first-party business context may make its analysis more relevant, but it does not automatically make every conclusion correct.

Meta is also pushing the assistant further into everyday productivity. Information gathered from connected business accounts, Google Workspace and the web can be turned into documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Recurring tasks and reminders can be configured to produce regular updates, potentially turning Meta AI into a lightweight reporting tool rather than something businesses need to prompt from scratch every week.

On Mac, the new Meta AI desktop app adds window sharing, allowing users to show the assistant what they are currently working on and receive contextual responses. System-wide dictation is also included.

Meta says early small-business testers found the recommendations more useful because they were based on existing content, audiences and campaign data rather than generic business prompts. Those testimonials are encouraging but remain company-provided feedback rather than independent evidence of broader effectiveness.

The new features are free to start using across Meta AI’s web, mobile and desktop experiences. Meta says heavier business usage will eventually be available through a Meta One subscription, although the announcement does not provide detailed pricing or limits.

For Meta, the larger opportunity is clear. AI assistants are increasingly moving from answering questions to working across applications, company data and recurring workflows. Connecting Meta AI directly to the advertising and engagement information that millions of smaller businesses already depend on could make it considerably more practical — provided businesses are comfortable giving an AI assistant access to that expanding pool of commercial data.
