Mid-range phones usually make you choose between a big battery, a tough body and a bright screen. HONOR’s new X9e Pro, on sale in the UAE from today starting at AED 1,499, is built for buyers who would rather not pick just one.
The battery is the main draw. It holds 11,000mAh and uses silicon-carbon cells. A few years ago that capacity would have sounded absurd in a normal-sized phone. Silicon-carbon anodes store more energy in the same space than traditional graphite, and they have steadily pushed capacities up across Chinese brands. HONOR calls this the largest battery in the industry, but that claim only lasts until a rival builds a bigger one. The company says the cell has been tested at temperatures up to 55°C and is designed to stay healthy for six years. If that holds, it matters more in a Gulf summer than raw capacity does. Charging tops out at 80W, and 27W wired reverse charging lets the phone top up another device.
Durability is the other big selling point. HONOR says the X9e Pro survives three-metre drops onto smooth marble and 1.2-metre drops from multiple angles. It credits reinforced corners, internal metal supports and shock-absorbing display adhesives. The phone also carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, and lab testing covered immersion to 10 metres and hot-water spray at up to 85°C. These are the company’s own test conditions, not guarantees, and real-world drop damage is notoriously unpredictable.
The 6.8-inch 1.5K display refreshes at up to 120Hz, and HONOR says it peaks at 10,000 nits. Peak figures like that usually describe a small patch of the screen under ideal conditions. Sustained brightness outdoors is what will actually decide whether the screen is readable at midday. The display also works with wet hands and gloves.
The camera has a 108MP main sensor with what HONOR describes as CIPA 6.0-level stabilisation. Cloud-assisted AI processing handles portraits, night shots and zoom. Sending photos to the cloud for processing raises fair questions about connectivity and privacy, and the company hasn’t addressed them in detail.
Launch buyers get HONOR VIP Care+. It includes six months of accidental damage cover, a 24-month battery guarantee and a warranty valid across the GCC, India, Pakistan and Egypt. Buyers also get a free HONOR Choice E6i worth AED 149, plus AED 100 off the AED 169 Select Sound Lite4 speaker. Existing X9 series owners get an extra 24-month warranty on top. Buyers are also entered into a draw for four HONOR Robot Phones, with winners announced on a weekly livestream.
At AED 1,499, the X9e Pro costs far less than most flagships while promising to outlast them on a charge. The big question is whether its durability claims hold up against real-world abuse rather than lab tests.
